An illustration is a displayed visualization form presented as a drawing, painting, photograph or other work of art that is created to elucidate or dictate sensual information (such as a story, poem or newspaper article) by providing a visual representation graphically. HistoryEarly historyThe earliest forms of illustration were prehistoric cave paintings. Before the invention of the printing press, books were hand-illustrated. Illustration has been used in China and Japan since the 8th century, traditionally by creating woodcuts to accompany writing. 15th century through 18th centuryDuring the 15th century, books illustrated with woodcut illustrations became available. The main processes used for reproduction of illustrations during the 16th and 17th centuries were engraving and etching. At the end of the 18th century, lithography allowed even better illustrations to be reproduced. I want to start a t-shirt line, and I know that I need to turn my illustrations into vector images on Adobe Illustrator in order to have them printed. I have Illustrator and am not completely illiterate in how to use it - but how can I turn my illustrations into vectors without losing their hand drawn look? Say, I make a picture with watercolor, and I want that texture to transfer onto the t-shirt - how would I turn that into a vector without ruining the look of it? I was thinking there is somenice stuff of microsoft clip art but would we need special permissions to use them. Where could we find illustrators or pcs that we could feely use? But to me it's comes across as being a little amatuer, as these things tend to be used frequently. You can also look at places like Istock.com and Masterfile.com where you can purchase stock images for use. You can go to places like deviantart.com, portfolios.com and contact specific illustrators you like and see what they charge. Finally you could post your job on guru.com or ifreelance.com and illustrators will bid to get the job.
